Table Rock Trail

Nice workout trail with a few waterfalls and great mountain views at Governor's Rock and at the end of the trail.
Out and back trail of a total of 7 miles with lots of rock steps.
The only downfall is that it is a very popular trail with casual and serious hikers so it can become quite crowded.

Highland Bear Shadow

We just did make it to this location on Hwy 64 before the sun began to remove the shadow.

Yellow Mountain Trail

YMT is located near Highlands, NC. It is about 5 miles to the fire tower and then out so a 10 mile total hike. The Firetower gives you a 360 view of all the surrounding mountains about 3 significant climbs on the trail but they are slow and gradual. Leaving Highlands we took photos of the Highland Bear Shadow... a very kewl scene.

Hospital Rock/ Falls Creek Falls Trail

My very first official hike with the Upstate Hiking group for 6.5 miles of a strenuous but very enjoyable hike. Hospital Rock is a huge rock that got it’s name during the civil war because they would drag the wounded soldiers there for recovery. It has a large outcropping that makes for a nice cove to sit under.

The Falls Creek Falls portion of the trail has a beautiful double deck waterfall. This was an amazing hike. There were 8 of us and we completed it with stops for lunch, breaks and pictures in 5 hours and 30 minutes.

Orchard Lake/ Palmetto Trail

Wonderful campground to stay at... I was able to stay in my parents newly furnished and decorated camper with all the conveniences of home. The camp has a in and out wooded trail of moderate difficulty of about 3 miles which I hiked 2 different days and also the Poinsettia trail portion of the Palmetto trail begins right outside the campsite. Since I was along I went 2.5 miles down the Palmetto trail and made it an in and out of 5 miles. It was relatively a flat hike for me no serious climbing and only wooded land for scenery.
